Davidson's Mains primary pupils rewarded for green efforts
5 DecemberPrimary five pupils at Davidson’s Mains Primary have been rewarded for their environmental efforts, receiving a Highly Commended certificate at the Children and Families awards.
The kids had been working with Earth Calling, a group offering environmental education. On the group’s website, they said: “A year ago we were coming to the end of our teaching project with the Primary 5s at Davidson’s Mains.
“After a couple of months of hard work in the woods, during which time we surveyed much of the wildlife including the trees, plants, minibeasts and mammals, the two classes had pages and pages of survey results and a much greater knowledge of what lives in the woods, and the problems within them. Their hard work interpreting it all resulted in a fantastic leaflet, text and artwork done by the children and designed by Mamook Graphics, which is now available to the public.
“Last week the project was Highly Commended at the Children and Families awards, which is a huge achievement for everyone involved. We are all very proud of it anyway, but this award again proves how worthwhile it was.
"Congratulations all round! The leaflet design is linked to below and the real thing can be picked up from libraries and the school.”
